Ricoh adds webcam functions to RICOH WG-7 underwater digital camera
Ricoh Imaging Co., Ltd. announced an upgraded version of its rugged WG digital camera series, the RICOH WG-7, which adds a webcam functionality. The camera is scheduled to be released July 9, 2021. The camera maintains the tough performance of the “WG” series, such as waterproof performance at a depth of 20 meters, drop-impact resistance from a height of 2.1 meters, and cold resistance at –10°C, plus 20-million-pixel resolution and 4K and high-quality video with 4K resolution even in harsh environments. The camera has a built-in GPS unit for , record positioning log data while moving, and automatically set the time.
The WG-7 can be used as a high-quality webcam by connecting to a PC; the WG series cameras have six short-distance LED lights around the lens, so the addition of the webcam function complements this feature. The LED lights on the WG-7 are up to 10 times brighter than the standard model.
The camera has an optical 5x zoom lens with a focal length of 5 to 25 mm (equivalent to about 28 to 140 mm in 35mm format), various shooting scenes from powerful close-up photography as close as 1 cm to the subject to vast landscapes. The WG-7 is also equipped with a 3.0-inch (3: 2), large, high-definition LCD monitor.
The new model is available in black and in red. Pricing was listed at 49,800 yen.
